# Prompt: Migrate a Weebly Site to a New Website Builder (AI Agent Instructions)

Copy this whole file, fill in the placeholders in **Inputs**, and paste it to your AI agent (one that has browser automation / computer-use capability). This is a self-contained instruction set — the agent does not need any other context to run it.

---

## Inputs (fill in before running)

- **Source site (Weebly site to migrate):** {SOURCE_URL}
- **Target website builder (where you'll import into):** {BUILDER_URL}
- **Final domain after publishing:** {TARGET_DOMAIN}
- **Pages to keep:** {all / a specific list of pages / first N pages}
- **Publish immediately after migration:** {yes/no}

---

## Task

Migrate the website at **{SOURCE_URL}** into the website builder at **{BUILDER_URL}**, using its built-in website import feature. Work through every step below in order, and give a short status report after each step (what was done / what failed / what needs manual review).

### 1. Import
1. Open {BUILDER_URL} and locate the "Website Import" (or equivalent) feature.
2. Enter the source URL and start the import.
3. Wait for it to go through all stages (reading pages → generating builder data → downloading resources → finalizing). If progress appears stuck for more than 30–40 seconds on one stage, reload the builder page (don't cancel the import) — this commonly unsticks it. Then check progress again.
4. If the page doesn't render after import finishes (stuck on a loading state), reload the builder page again.

### 2. Trim the site down to the requested pages
1. Open the page list / site structure settings.
2. If a specific list of pages was requested, keep only those and delete the rest.
3. **Tip:** if unwanted pages are grouped under a parent/folder page (e.g. "Products", "Support"), deleting the parent page usually deletes all nested child pages in one action — much faster than deleting them one by one.
4. Before doing a batch of deletions, do one test deletion and check a screenshot to confirm you're clicking the right element. Don't assume a fixed pixel coordinate keeps working across the whole session — icon positions can shift slightly between screens/states, so re-verify visually if a click seems to have no effect.

### 3. Check the navigation menu for broken links
1. Go through every item in the main menu/navigation.
2. If a menu item points to a page you deleted, it will usually show a warning (e.g. "page removed" or a broken-link icon). Remove that menu item using the menu editor.
3. **Make sure you explicitly save/apply the menu changes** — a menu edit can silently fail to persist if you close the editor without confirming.
4. After publishing, re-check the live menu once more: sometimes a removed menu item reappears after a session gap. If it does, remove it again and re-save.

### 4. SEO metadata — verify, don't assume it's carried over
Website importers typically bring over the page **title**, and sometimes **meta description/keywords** (if the source page had them), and usually set **canonical URLs** correctly to the new domain. But some fields are commonly **NOT carried over automatically and need manual attention**:

- **Favicon** — almost never imported automatically. Upload the original site's favicon manually in the builder's site settings.
- **Social preview image (og:image)** — after import this is typically empty. Upload a preview image manually (Settings → SEO / Social sharing) for the homepage, and ideally for key subpages too.
- If the original page had no meta description, the builder will likely fall back to using the page title as the description — that's not a migration error, but it's worth rewriting manually for pages that matter for SEO.

**Verify by actually inspecting the page's HTML/meta tags** (view source, or ask your agent to read `document.title`, `meta[name=description]`, `meta[property^=og:]`, `link[rel=icon]` via the browser) — don't assume these fields are correct by default.

### 5. Publish
1. Trigger the publish action and wait for it to complete (upload progress → success confirmation).
2. Open the live {TARGET_DOMAIN} in a new tab afterward and confirm the homepage actually loads.

### 6. Compare against the original
1. Open the original {SOURCE_URL} and the new {TARGET_DOMAIN} side by side.
2. Check at least 2–3 key pages (homepage + one or two important subpages) for content parity. Minor styling differences (icons, spacing) are expected and fine; the actual text/structure should match.
3. Verify the favicon and og:image are actually showing (check the page source, or try sharing the link to preview the social card).

### 7. Final report
At the end, summarize clearly:
- final page count on the new site;
- any remaining broken links in the menu;
- whether favicon/og:image were set;
- the link to the published site.

---

**Note to the agent:** don't assume every import behaves the same way — different source sites have different (or missing) meta tags, so always verify what actually landed on the page rather than assuming the importer handled titles/descriptions/og tags consistently.
